We saw several marmots along the ridge. Usually they will whistle as you approach, warning others in their clan of our arrival. These creatures however, were much less concerned. Evidently, the area sees so many visitors that the marmots didn't even run off to hide in their dens while we passed. They simply watched us, albeit cautiously, and continued to eat berries or lupine leaves.
