Documents | Marriage bond, Jacob WEST and Maria GLAWSON Marriage bond: Presented by Jacob WEST and John W WEST for the marriage between Jacob WEST and _____ GLAWSON No 12 24 Feb 1826 Province of Nova Scotia Know all Men by these Presents, that We Jacob WEST of Halifax, shipwright & John W WEST of same place, carpenter are held and firmly bond to His Honor Sir JAMES KEMPT, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Honorable Military Order of the Bath, Lieutenant-Governor and Commander in Chief, in and over His Majesty's Province of Nova-Scotia, and its Dependencies, &c. &c. &c. in the sum of One Hundred Pounds, Lawful Money of Great-Britain, to be paid the said Sir JAMES KEMPT, or his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, for the true payment whereof, we bind ourselves, and each of us by himself, for the whole and every part thereof, and the Heirs, Executors, and Administrators of us, and each of us, firmly by these Presents, sealed with our seals, dated the 24th day of February in the ____ Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Fourth, by the grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great-Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, and in the Year of our Lord On Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Six. The condition of this Obligation is such, that if hereafter there shall appear any Lawful Let or Impediment, by reason of Consanguinity, Affinity, or any other lawful means whatever, why the said Jacob WEST, bachelor & _____ GLAWSON, spinster may not lawfully solemnize Marriage together, and in the same afterwards to remain and continue for Man and Wife according to the Law in that behalf provided; and if the same Marriage shall be openly solemnized according to the Form of the Book of Common Prayer now established, and if the above bounden Jacob WEST & John W WEST do save harmless the said Sir JAMES KEMPT, and other his Officers whatsoever, by reason of the Premises, then this Obligation to bevoid [sic], else to remain in full Force and Virtue.
