Documents | Marriage Bond, Peter THOROGOOD, 1824 Marriage bond presented by Peter THOROGOOD and John GLAWSON for the marriage between Peter THOROGOOD and Hannah WEST No 8 29 Dec 1824 Province of Nova Scotia Know all Men by these Presents, that We Peter Thorogood of Spry Harbor, Fisherman & John Glawson of Halifax, Mariner are held and firmly bond to His Honor MICHAEL WALLACE, President and Commander in Chief in and over His Majesty's Province of Nova-Scotia, &c. &c. &c. in the sum of One Hundred Pounds, Lawful Money of Great-Britain, to be paid the said MICHAEL WALLACE, or his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, for the true payment whereof, we bind ourselves, and each of us by himself, for the whole and every part thereof, and the Heirs, Executors, and Administrators of us, and each of us, firmly by these Presents, sealed with our seals, dated the 29th day of December in the 5th Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Fourth, by the grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great-Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Four. The condition of this Obligation is such, that if hereafter there shall appear any Lawful Let or Impediment, by reason of Consanguinity, Affinity, or any other lawful means whatever, why the said Peter Thorogood, bachelor & Hannah West, spinster may not lawfully solemnize Marriage together, and in the same afterwards to remain and continue for Man and Wife according to the Law in that behalf provided; and if the same Marriage shall be openly solemnized according to the Form of the Book of Common Prayer now established, and if the above bounden Peter Thorogood & John Glawson do save harmless the said MICHAEL WALLACE, and other his Officers whatsoever, by reason of the Premises, then this Obligation to be void, else to remain in full Force and Virtue.
