Elwha Basin / Martins Lakes '13,  Olympic National Park,  Sep 17, 2013 - Sep 22, 2013     page 56 / 113

After another snack, I began the hike back toward Happy Hollow. Around 3:30pm I met another hiker headed up the hill. We chatted briefly then went on our way. Little did I know he would be the only hiker I encountered during my six-day trek! That makes this hike one of the lonliest I've encountered. Not that that is a problem. I enjoy the solitude.

When I returned to the shelter, I found perhaps a dozen butterflies sunning themselves on the bench. Very pretty.
