Grand Pass '12, Olympic National Park, Aug 22, 2012 - Aug 24, 2012 page 2 / 86
We ate our sandwiches at the trailhead, enjoying the surrounding view from the 6100-foot parking lot, then we began the hike.
The trail meanders along a broad, open ridge, just above 6000 feet. Views to the southwest and west include the Bailey Range and Mt. Olympus, though the latter was obscured by clouds. To the south, we could see McCartney Peak and Moose Mountain. At the minor pass a few miles from the trailhead, we could see east to the Needles.
