Having hiked a few hard, steep climbs in recent weeks, we chose a slightly more straightforward trip for some relaxing time in the hills. We invited my Dad along, as well as Libby's brother, Bruce. Though the climb was certainly easier than our Lake of the Angels trip, or the Mt Adams climb, it still had some work involved, but with great rewards.
My Dad drove up to Gig Harbor on Tuesday night. Bruce came over early Wednesday morning. After loading our gear in the car, we headed for Port Angeles. We purchased some sandwiches and picked up our backcountry permit, then drove the winding road to Hurricane Ridge. Next, we followed the rugged road to Obstruction Point, where our trip would begin.
