Crater Lake, Crater Lake National Park, Aug 16, 2004 - Aug 19, 2004 page 32 / 36
The boat was maneuvered counterclockwise around the unusual rock formation. On the northern side, the water was a light blue. The ranger explained that the water there was about 30 feet deep. As we passed along the west side of the rock, the water color changed to a deep, rich blue. He went on to say that the depth on the southern side of the rock was about 700 feet. Note the extreme blue color in the next photo, taken from the south side of the rock.
