The sky had turned gray during my hike from Bridge Creek, but it was still dry and comfortable. As I left Heart Lake, though, I climbed into the clouds. The fog along the High Divide trail was thick. The mood was eerie. I had none of the views across the Hoh valley which I was familiar with.
