The next morning, I was packed and headed out of camp by 7:00am. Another deer walked through the camp area, so I followed her into the meadow. I thought about taking some photos, but the lighting really wasn't sufficient. I turned around and looked up the hill. I saw an unusual shape against the horizon. Then I recognized it. It was a huge elk rack! He must've been a 14-pointer! He stood there looking at me, and I at him. I couldn't get the camera adjusted quickly enough. He turned and walked away. I walked up the hill, to watch him a little longer, but he had eluded me, disappearing into the woods. What a majestic animal!
