I strolled back down to the lake and beyond, to the west. I walked up a rise west of the lake. Mt. Olympus stood beyond another icy tarn nearby. Meadows lay down the hill to the northwest. Then it struck me. Dad would never be able to experience what I was now looking at. While I was elated to be there, especially under such beautiful conditions, I was disappointed not to have him there to share the experience. I sat down on a rock and soaked it all in.
