We got our tents pitched, and our tarps hung. I had a bite to eat, then I went to explore. Despite my offers to lead our group further up the hill, there were no takers. I guess I can't blame them. We had just completed a 3400-foot gain from the trailhead. I wandered up to the pass about 200 feet above the lake. This area always provides striking views of the basin, as well as views west into the Skokomish watershed.
