Heading down the hill is a much more rapid process than ascending. We were back down to 8200 and off the snow in only 30 or 40 minutes. We rested a bit more. It was apparent that we had made the right decision to turn back when I became sick. I was not terribly concerned. I've occasionally experienced altitude sickness before and knew I simply needed some rest, some food and a bit of liquid. We eventually returned to camp where I got that food and rest. We packed up our tent and other equipment and headed down the last stretch of trail around noon.
