Tubal Cain Mines '05,  Buckhorn Wilderness Area,  Jun 25, 2005 - Jun 26, 2005     page 4 / 22

The first junction is reached in about 3.2 miles, elevation 4150. A small sign points toward Tull canyon. The side-trail runs steeply up the hill for about three-quarters of a mile, gaining about 500 feet. As soon as the trail reaches Tull canyon, one will find an old B-17 airplane wreck to explore. Research indicates that the crash took place in 1941. Much of the plane is still in the woods, though it is evident that scavengers have removed some of the wreckage over the years.

Airplane parts rest in a broad creek at the base of Tull Canyon
