I continued down the hill. I rounded one turn in the trail and was startled to run across the goats again. They were foraging in the woods. I think the nanny was as startled by me as I was by her. I spoke calmly to her and continued down the hill, stopping at a campsite in the meadow. I hadn't been at the campsite but a few minutes and the goats showed up again. I stood up. They worked their way around the campsite and bagan licking at some rocks and soil nearby. My guess was that they had found a location where someone had urinated. There's plenty of salt there!

The goats licked this patch of rock and soil, undoubtedly extracting some salt
