"Sir, I am now pensioned under Certificate Number 716720 because of being the widow of a soldier of the Civil War.
"George Hayward, who was a private in Co "E", 2nd Regiment Iowa Vol. Cav. My name is Lucy Ann Hayward and was 72 years of age last August haveing [sic] been born on the 10th of August 1844, in London, Old England (and I came to Iowa when I was 10 years of age)
"I am entitled to the increase provided by the Act of Sept. 8, 1916.
