  1. 8.  Ronald Hayes HAYWARDRonald Hayes HAYWARD was born 10 Oct 1912, Fowlerton, LaSalle, TX (son of Thomas Hayes HAYWARD and Jessie Ida GREEN); died 13 Aug 2011, Beaverton, Washington, OR.

Ronald married Ethel Lucille DICK 3 Oct 1936, Denver, CO. Ethel (daughter of George Wesley DICK and Florence Amelia PITCHER) was born 8 Jan 1915, Mount Rainier, Prince George's MD; died 28 Jan 2002, Richland, Benton, WA. [Group Sheet]

  2. 9.  Ethel Lucille DICKEthel Lucille DICK was born 8 Jan 1915, Mount Rainier, Prince George's MD (daughter of George Wesley DICK and Florence Amelia PITCHER); died 28 Jan 2002, Richland, Benton, WA.

    Notes:

Lucille woke up about 1AM, and had help from Grampa using the bathroom, complained of feeling crummy. Could not be awakened by Grampa later in morning. She died sometime between 1AM and 5AM, 28 Jan 2002. Grampa called 911, then called Wes Hayward at 5AM. Paramedics were still working on her while on phone with Wes Hayward.

Husband Ron HAYWARD mentioned to Wes and Den HAYWARD for a few days prior to Lucille's death it seemed that someone else was in the house with them. Lloyd died on Jan 24, 2002. Hmmm.

Lucille and twin brother Lloyd were so small when born they were placed in shoe boxes under the wood stove to stay warm. The doctor did not think that they would live. They both did, of course.

She grew up in Illinois until the depression, which forced the family to seperate, reuniting in 1934 in Denver.

    Memories:
She loved chocolate, especially See's candies. She made fudge at Christmastime that was excellent. While I (Ron) was growing up, she would make quite a bit of it and send us some. She had a large Hummell collection as well as other trinkets and figurines. She was very sharp and could tell you when and where she had gotten each one. She remembered details, telling stories with much description. She travelled to Hawaii with Grampa three times (at least once during Christmas). She loved it there. Roger Hayward recalled her telling that they passed Harvey Korman on the beach in Hawaii one time, and said hello to him. He said hi back. She adored the movie, "The Sound of Music". One year we got her a video copy of the movie so she could watch it over and over.
