We paused several times to gawk at the improving view of Mt. Olympus and the surrounding country. Near 4900 feet, the trail entered open meadows with views up the shoulder of Mt. Appleton. Appleton Pass was reached soon afterward, providing a view of Mt. Appleton, and a look down the Boulder Creek valley.
