Appleton Pass-Cat Lake Traverse,  Olympic National Park,  Sep 8, 2008 - Sep 12, 2008     page 9 / 71

Oyster Lake was less than a half mile away, to the south, along the ridge. This short section of trail was apparently rather popular, with several designated campsites, and a park-installed bear wire. We saw no one else in the area, though. The lupine provided a beautiful violet accent to the green landscape, and a particularly sweet scent to the air.
