Yellowstone,  Vacation,  Jul 14, 2003 - Jul 19, 2003     page 5 / 36

Old Faithful lived up to her name and gave us a good show. We proceeded down the road a half mile or so, pulling off at the parking area for a hike to the Lone Star Geyser. This is a beatiful hike of roughly 2.5 miles along the Firehole Creek to a secluded setting in the woods. The geyser at the end of the trail spews roughly every 3 hours. A logbook is there for visitors to note the time. We arrived a bit after 2:30PM to find that it had last spewed around noon, so we were able to wait for the next show. It was quite unusual, yet a lot of fun to watch, and best of all there were only a few people there, perhaps 15 in all.
