Tumac Mtn / Twin Sisters Lks,  William O Douglas Wilderness,  Aug 22, 1999 - Aug 23, 1999     page 13 / 20

The trail to the summit of Tumac mountain was about 2.2 miles from the small lake. We wandered through meadows, forests and across a few small snowfields. About 400 feet below the summit, we spotted a12-point Roosevelt Elk! Along the way we had good views east to Mosquito Valley aptly named, I'm sure! Fortunately, there was a light breeze on the peak which kept the bugs from swarming us. The summit lies at 6340 feet, about 1200 feet above the lakes and has great views in all directions.
