Tubal Cain Mines '05, Buckhorn Wilderness Area, Jun 25, 2005 - Jun 26, 2005 page 1 / 22
I recently hiked with my son's scout troop to the Tubal Cain area in the Buckhorn Wilderness, just outside the Olympic National Park. The trail mostly follows Copper Creek, a tributary of the Dungeness River, but begins along Silver Creek.
The trail begins at an elevation of 3250. Immediately after setting out one will see a restored shelter. This could provide a nice place to stay if arriving late in the evening, though it is probably frequented by squirrels and mice, as so many shelters usually are.
