We continued along the trail. I knew we needed to cut left and ascend a small headwall, but the trail seemed to be heading nearly enough in the right direction. Eventually we did break to the left, getting above the headwall at it's far right (northeastern) side. Having continued along the way trail, I discovered, would have taken us through St. Peter's Gate, a pass leading to Scout Lake.
