I had encountered goat in the Olympic Park before. I expected he wanted to come lick the salty perspiration from my hands. While I looked forward to a close-up encounter with the animal, I thought it best not to let him lick me this time, for I had no ice ax for defense, as I had in previous encounters. As it turned out, he simply wanted to eat more of the vegetation. He positioned himself near some more low hemlock and began eating some of the plants growing underneath them!
