Spray Park '00, Mt Rainier National Park, October 2, 2000 page 1 / 6
With weather and time on our side recently, Libby and I decided to take to the hills. We returned to a location we had each visited several times despite the knowledge that the colorful wildflowers would be missing at this late date in the high country's growing season. We were able to hit the trail by 10:00AM, having left almost immediately after getting the kids off to school. We were amazed at how quickly we were able to arrive in the high meadows of Spray Park. The last several times we had visited this location was with the kids, which required a bit more relaxed pace up the hill.
Despite the fact that the flowers were gone, we found plenty of color in the landscape. We found much color in the rich browns, reds, and oranges of the plants.
