Libby, Tom and I headed for the hills recently to enjoy the summer sun. Libby and I visited Snow Lake in the fall of 2003 and found it to be a beautiful area. Tom came with us for this early-season day trip.

It took a bit more than an hour to hike up the valley of the Snoqualmie river south fork and up to the pass. We expected some snow in the hills, but were surprised to find the north facing slopes completely covered with snow, including the hillside leading down to Snow Lake. We chose not to hike down to the frozen lake, but to continue up the snow covered ridge to the east, admiring the area from above a high vantage point.
