Mowich Lake '04, Mt Rainier National Park, April 17, 2004 page 1 / 11
Recently, Tom and I went up to Mount Rainier for a quick day hike. He brought along a friend from his search and rescue group. We headed toward the national park boundary on the road to Mowich Lake, on the northwest side of the mountain. Initially we intended to hike part of the Paul Peak trail, since we'd never been on that path before, so we left the snowshoes at home. Once at the trailhead, the road seemed reasonably clear, so we headed up to the lake instead. The road had more snow than we initially realized, but we slogged along despite it.
