Mowich Lake '02,  Mt Rainier National Park,  January 18, 2002     page 1 / 12

In January, Libby and I took a quick snowshoe trip on Mt Rainier. We drove up the Mowich Lake road as far as we could before hitting snow too deep to continue safely. This happened to be just down the hill from the park boundary gate. We hiked through the snow via the road and trail. We estimated the distance to be about 4 miles and the elevation gain around 1500 feet. It snowed throughout our hike.
