The rain picked up again on our descent into Low Divide. We were tired and anxious to stop at the shelter, or nearby, for some lunch. On our way we encountered a bear! When I first saw it, I motioned to Tom to quietly catch up to me, at which point I pointed out the bear to him. We approached quietly, with my camera ready. I looked around for cubs, to make sure we weren't walking into a dangerous situation, but saw none. Then I decided we had better make a little noise so that we would not startle the bear. We spoke quietly as we approached him, and got a couple photos. He looked up, and casually walked away through the meadow.
