Skyline Trail, Olympic National Park, Jul 12, 2005 - Jul 16, 2005 page 3 / 52
The trail climbed very aggressively as we left the Big Creek gorge. Some windfall in the area presented some brief challenges. One downed tree was merely a nuisance. Tom climbed over the big log. I removed my pack, handed it over to him, and crawled under it. The other downed tree caused us to lose the trail for a few minutes. We were back on the trail in short order, though. Soon thereafter the grade eased, and our paced increased. We gradually climbed higher. The rain stopped as we hiked into the fog.
