Skokomish River '01, Olympic National Park, October 5, 2001 page 1 / 7
The fall colors had begun to appear and the weather forecast was good, so we headed out for the day to the Skokomish River. Kevin had the day off from school so he came along. In years past, when the kids were younger, we would do the loop from the Staircase Ranger station. We would hike up one side of the river, cross the bridge at Staircase Rapids then come back down the other side. The bridge was washed out a couple of winters ago and has not yet been replaced.
We headed up the west side of the river, beyond the bridge washout up to the camp area just beyond. There we ate a bit of lunch.
