We rejoined the road near the tree shown above. The snow was quite powdery. At the upper elevations, breaking trail was a chore. Each step compacted the snow six to eight inches. The scouts handled this well. Some of the fastest scouts reached the camp area around 3:00 PM. The remainder of us strolled in during the next 30 minutes or so.
