We found a few campsites with views of the lake, but opted for one with a bit more protection from the trees, just in case the weather did not improve. We set up the tarp, and layed out our sleeping bags. I tried a new bivouac bag on this trip, but decided to place it under the tarp, too, in case the rain returned.

We fixed a quick dinner. Let's see....was it beef or chicken for the first night. I think I had teriyaki beef with rice and Tom had Pasta Primavera. As we ate, the clouds slowly dissipated, yielding magnificent views of blue sky, gray rock, shadowed fir and a lake like a mirror.
