The weather forecast for the day was good, but more rain was on its way for the following night. I was concerned that the river would rise further, complicating my return. After some thought, I decided it best not to cross, but to shorten my trip. With a partner along, I might have been more likely to cross the river, for if one of us ran into trouble the other would be available to assist. But on my own, I tend to be a more cautious.

I proceeded down the valley, not really sure where I might stay that night. But I enjoyed the morning and the beautiful weather. Some sections of trail were particularly attractive.
