North Fork Quinalt River,  Olympic National Park,  Sep 24, 2010 - Sep 25, 2010     page 19 / 30

The evening was mild and pleasant. I took my time with dinner and soon found darkness approaching. I gathered my food and stuffed as much as I could into my bear can. I placed the can away from my camp so any interested critters would stay away from me while I slept. No sooner had I returned to my campsite, and I spied a mouse looking for scraps of dinner I might have dropped. I picked up an empty stuff sack to put away. It smelled like the Hershey's dark chocolate I had carried up the mountain. That must've been what the mouse was interested in! I took the bag over to my bear can and placed it inside, to keep the mouse from chewing a hole in it overnight.

I took a few more photos the next morning. I noticed the ridge across the valley was now unobscured.
