Despite this late season hike, I had not seen an abundance of fall colors in the surrounding foliage. That was not to say that none existed. There had been small splashes of color at a couple of points along the river. As I climbed up the hill the trees thinned, giving way to small meadows. I walked to the edge of a cliff to have a look down the valley. Across the valley, in stark contrast to the surrounding evergreens, lied a section of brush displaying the most awesome fall colors.
