Plummer Peak, Mt Rainier National Park, October 17, 2010 page 1 / 21
October usually provides several beautiful days for hiking. We had one of those spectacular autumn days, so Libby and I headed to Mt. Rainier National Park to climb Plummer Peak. Despite the spectacular day, the traffic was light for a weekend, an advantage to fall hiking.
The trailhead begins across the road from Reflection Lakes (4800 ft). It ascends right away, though it isn't steep. The path leads through second growth fir and hemlock. The air was particularly cool along the shaded trail. We had no trouble staying warm, though, as long as we kept moving.
Looking over our shoulders from time to time, we could see the mountain between the trees.
