Carbon Glacier and Moraine, Mt Rainier National Park, September 13, 2003 page 8 / 14
We stopped around 6400 feet. We had gained 4100 feet and walked about 7 miles. The views were awesome. A slight breeze could be felt, though is was not cool in the afternoon sun. We watched the mountaintop where the wind blew much stronger creating a cloud across much of the summit. Below, the rugged Willis Wall could be examined. It seemed closer than ever. The end of summer had melted most of the past season's snow, exposing thousands of crevasses in the highest portion of the Carbon Glacier.
