After reaching an altitude of 5600', the trail grade eases. Marmots can be seen sunning themselves among the rocks in the meadow. Oddly, the marmots we saw this day were rather quiet. In fact, they must have seen many people this summer, realizing that most were not dangerous. I think we only heard one cry out with his usual shrill whistle, alerting others of our presence.
