I worked my way up the hill, over the buttress and back down the "goat trail" 200 feet to the river. As steep and awkward as this traverse is, it seemed a minor annoyance compared to my 2007 memory of it. I kept thinking that this area could be pretty tough under rainy conditions, making for slick travel.
