The night was warm and the sky clear. Again we watched the stars and Perseid meteor display. The wind blew strongly for an hour or so starting about 10PM. Luckily, I didn't see any clouds coming. A repeat of the 1975 trip was not desired. We left Lake LaCrosse in the rain then. It continued for the remainder of the hike.
The next morning brought more clear skies. I rose from my sleeping bag, grabbed the cameras and headed down the lakeshore to see what kind of photos I might capture. Of course, the lake was totally still and flat.
