Continuing down the trail another twenty minutes, we came to a junction. The adjoining trail could be taken down valley to Grand Lake, or up valley to Moose Lake. We took the latter. I led the group at this point and noted fresh deer track on the trail. I remained quiet, hoping to catch a glimpse of the animal. Rounding a couple more turns, I found the doe nibbling on something behind a rock. She looked up at us briefly, then continued grazing.
