The trail entered the trees again, gaining further elevation. As I reached roughly 5500 feet, the forest began to thin, eventually giving way to more open meadow. This was the north end of Grand Park. There were still plenty of trees ahead, but I could tell that it would not be long before I would get a magnificent view of the mountain.
