While standing at the lakeshore a little later, I realized that we were not the only ones at the lake. It turned out that a beaver was fishing on the opposite side of the lake! He remained within a fairly small area. Back and forth he swam, occasionally diving below for a short time. A few minutes later he worked his way to shore, where he appeared eat a small trout.

It was quite a treat to see him. I believe it was the first time I had seen a beaver in the wild.
