Ghost Ridge, Mt Hood, Feb 9, 2007 - Feb 10, 2007 page 1 / 14
Dad has been a licensed amateur radio operator since he was in high school. He particularly enjoys taking portable gear into the hills to participate in the occasional radio contests. He invited me along for the annual FYBO contest. I had to ask him what FYBO stood for: Freeze Your Butt Off!
We took snowshoes and all the other appropriate gear into an area just south of Mt. Hood. We hit the trail around 11:30AM and hiked from Barlow Road along the Pacific Crest trail for a mile or so. Then we veered west, off trail, following Ghost Ridge to the south. We camped near its high point perhaps two miles in.
