The view southwest looked good, but the peaks to the west and north were now obscured. Rain was falling on the ridge across the valley. I quickly donned my rain gear in preparation for the imminent shower. Having not yet spotted Black and White Lakes, and being "off-trail", I decided it best to return to Flapjack Lakes via the route I had arrived, rather than getting lost in unfamiliar territory. I certainly didn't want to get lost on the ridge should the fog move in.
