I proceed across the snow, picking up the pace, because I know the summit is near. Once I head up the snow to the southwest, I will be in the saddle below the summit. From there it's just five minutes to the top. I continue upward, glancing back briefly. In the distance, between the cloud layers, way off to the east, I can see Mt. Rainier.
