At the 4000 foot level the trail splits. When there is snow one keeps to the right along the winter route up a long snow chute on the southeast face of the peak. Later in the season if you veer left a trail leads you all the way to the summit.
As you can tell from the weather in the photo, it was rather cloudy. It was cool and breezy, too. We continued for a bit realizing that the summit might be "socked in." As we climbed this became more apparent. Given that you really can see nothing but clouds from the summit under these weather conditions, we opted to eat lunch at about the 4500 foot level and return home.
