After a week buried in the fog of an autumn Puget Sound inversion, we were ready for a dose of sunshine in the hills. I was fighting the onset of a cold, so we chose an easy hike out of Chinook Pass. We visited Dewey Lake via the south side of Naches Peak. The fall colors were outstanding, as I'm sure you'll agree.

We parked at Tipsoo Lake, crossed the highway and began our hike through several inches of patchy snow, brought during an early October storm.
