Crystal Peak '13, Mt Rainier National Park, July 12, 2013 page 10 / 21
The trail headed southward for a couple of miles across an open meadow, then turned toward the summit. Reaching the summit, we were treated with a dramatic view of Crystal Lake.
Libby and I noted the lack of snow this year. We visited this area last year and found snow throughout the basin, and over half the lake.
The peak once had a lookout tower. We found a few concrete footings on the western slope of Crystal Peak, but there was no other evidence of the structure.
