With the higher elevation, the terrain steepened. My footing became less stable, and more tenuous. I found the extended exposure uncomfortable. I use this feeling of discomfort as a personal "red flag" to limit myself. I decided to climb to the ridge, but not to continue to the actual summit. As it was, the high point on the ridge where I stopped was merely 100 feet below the peak.
